Greetings from Canada!

My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful Tour to Argentina! Thank you very much for arranging this amazing tour for us. The driver and tour guide had our full attention through out the whole trip. You have made 20 senior folks from Canada very happy. Thank you.
Thank you again for the gift of the champagne. We drank it the night we went to the tango show Madero Tango in the beautiful neighborhood of Puerto Madero, which was very good also with an incredible view of the riverwalks!
We had a very nice time and we were shocked by so much natural beauty there is in Argentina. I found the tours to Iguazu Falls and Patagonia very well organized, everything was as planned. The attention in the local Travel agency was very good and it really was nice to meet the staff in person. We liked the hotels you chose, particularly those in Puerto Natales and Calafate. The excursions were good too, the people very friendly and available. The Australis cruise was really incredible, we really liked it.
All the best

Salinas Grandes, a white disert in north of Argentina

Salinas Grandes, a white desert at 4,000 meters high

It is one of the most beautiful white extensions of Argentina with sporadic turquoise tones and almost perfect reflections.
Argentina, wide in territory and beauty, has several of those places that you always want to return to, one of them is the Province of Jujuy and its wonderful Salinas Grandes. The effects that nature can produce in the face of the stranger are unpredictable, as in the Salinas Grandes, in the province of Jujuy, very close to the border crossing of Jama that connects with Chile.
The name "grandes" is because it is the third largest salt flat in South America with an extension of more than 12 thousand hectares in the open sky. One of the whitest areas that can be found in Argentina and with a texture of robust hardness that will be necessary to appreciate closely to understand.

Located about 190 kilometers from the provincial capital, the Salinas Grandes capture the attention of visitors of all ages and awaken great creativity by having camera in hand. An immense depression totally depopulated that becomes even more attractive if a few hours before it rained. Where only the artisans who work the salt reside and offer delicately carved objects with picks and axes.

Although the access is relatively easy, climbing costs and winding up to over 4,100 meters, there are also many agencies that offer the route in Jujuy -also in the neighboring province of Salta-. In case of doing it in a particular way, it is important to load enough fuel, bring food, although in the area there is a restaurant, sunglasses to protect the sight and light shoes to splash in this real show.
Ancestral territory
The origin of the Salinas Grandes, scarcely smaller than those of Uyuni in Bolivia and those of Arizaro in Salta, dates back between 5 and 10 million years, when the basin was completely covered with water coming from a volcano. The gradual evaporation of this liquid and its components, is what gave form to this salt that has a crust whose average thickness is 30 centimeters and resists the weight of vehicles to medium trucks.

According to scientists, it is a chemical-evaporite sediment that in turn is divided into three types of zones: polygonal salt, salt efflorescence and silt. Those who will explain the secrets of extraction and the processes for its industrialization, are the same workers who remain in the place and receive the visitor with all kindness.
At first glance, everything will look the same. But each area was sectioned in arbitrary hexagons that extend to the side of National Route 52 through which it is accessed and officiated as the only alteration. The silence is practically total and each step forward will sound crispy to the ears.

The north of the country offers tourists countless destinations of great beauty, and the surroundings of the Salinas Grandes are also to highlight:

  •  Despite the high altitude, they serve as the base of an endorheic basin that continues northward in the Guayatayoc Lagoons.
  • To the southeast, the picturesque Sierra de Chañi and the old villages that make up the Quebrada de Humahuaca. During the ascent journey you can even make brief stops in Yala where it is possible to camp, Leon with just 500 inhabitants, Volcano with its lime deposits, Tumbuaya on the banks of the Rio Grande, in whose church images and pieces of goldsmiths from colonial Cuzco are conserved. Purmamarca, when you will see the first cactus.
  •  Then the curve will lead to the Cuesta de Lipán, crossing hamlets such as Quisquira, Patacal and La Ciénaga, until you reach the Abra de Potrerillos.
  • Back now the backdrop will be the polychromatic hill of seven colors, with green, pink, yellow, violet, white and gray tones that correspond to different minerals. Unique in the country, where to make exciting photographic safaris, hikes, horseback rides and even bicycle circuits.
  • To the west, you will pass a path surrounded by large poplars and willows. And it is even possible to take a few kilometers to the famous RN 40 that leads to San Antonio de los Cobres or Abra Pampa.

Puerto Madryn, in the Patagonia Argentina

Puerto Madryn, located in the Province of Chubut, between the Váldes Peninsula and Punta Ninfa, is one of the most important tourist cities in Argentina, since it has a diversity of activities to do, starting as the national diving capital. It is a place that allows you to connect with the marine and wild fauna of Patagonia, in addition to contemplating unforgettable sunsets. It presents a temperate semi-desert climate that makes the trip more comfortable.
The city presents a great tourist activity, where the travelers during the day go to the surroundings for excursions that you will find next.
City

- Streets June 28 and Miter

When entering the same Puerto Madryn, you will find much commercial, community and cultural activity. Between the streets of June 28 and Miter, the largest number of businesses with a diversity of offers is concentrated. There you can buy souvenir to take you home. In addition to cultural centers where you can find concerts published by the city.

- Costanera Admiral Brow

Another of the panoramas that you must realize in the city, are the walks at dusk by the Coastal Admiral Brow. There you can find sports activities, music, crafts, becoming a familiar panorama around the beautiful landscape.

- Monument to the Indian Tehuelche

Puerto Madryn is a city that was originally populated by Tehuelches, which is why you should visit this monument, as it is an important part of the history of the city.

- Ecocenter

It is a place with 10 years of culture, science and art related to the Atlantic Ocean. It is not an ordinary museum, as it presents an interpretive center that will connect you with the diversity of the sea. Here you can learn about the characteristics of the Patagonian fauna, led by the Southern Right Whale. It is a place for all ages, presenting cultural activities to make your visit and learning more entertaining.
It is located 5 minutes from the city center in the South direction to the Tehuelche Indian monument, if you go by car or taxi. And by bicycle or by walking 15 or 30 minutes, by the coastal boulevard Almirante Guillermo Brown. A few meters from the Tehuelche Indian monument.
Tours

- Punta Tombo

150 km from Madryn to the coast is Punta Tambo, where the Patagonian penguins live. Here you can observe the life of these animals. For example, your couple routine, where they take turns in taking care of eggs, their aquatic life, their relationship between the community, among others. Also in this same sector you can observe guanacos and choiques.
It should be noted that the site has marked routes, which have been built not to interrupt with the wild routine, being important the respect of these.
In addition to this, Punta Tombo has trekking service, horseback riding, lodging.

Punta Loma

It is located 17 km from the city, is a place where you can observe the sea lions and the rocky cormorant, both in their natural environment. The excursions are made from a viewpoint where you can observe their routine, for example, as the cormorant makes its nests between the rocks. The landscape is characterized by the celestial color of the water and the rocky nature of the birds.
The sea lion that lives there, is the call of a hair, to have a single layer of hair, which allows it to adapt to the temperature and aquatic life.
In this place you will practice diving and snorkeling, where you can interact closely with these animals. You can do it from the Balneareo Coral where it begins the navigation towards the coast.

Playa Doradillo

It is one of the most important places in Puerto Madryn, since it is there where you can watch the Southern Franca whale with a privileged view, in addition to the surrounding anemones, crabs and birds of Patagonia. Activities vary, in trekking and biking.
It should be noted that whale watching is only done between June and December.

Golfo Nuevo, Valdés Peninsula

This is another of the most important places in Puerto Madryn, as you embark on this part of the Atlantic Ocean, you will encounter the dolphin sighting
Dark, which you can see from very close. I suggest doing this activity near sunset, so you can contemplate the shadows that these animals produce in the landscape.

Puerto Piramide

Puerto Pirámide is located 100km from Puerto Madryn. This place was considered natural heritage of humanity by the UNESCO in 1999 by the practice of sighting of the Southern right whale.
To reach this place there is direct transport from Tuesday to Sunday with departure at 9:55 and return at 18 hours.

Caleta Valdés

It is a thin beach, where different animals of the Patagonian fauna live. It is very close to the Valdés Peninsula, where you can observe another community of sea lions and Magellanic penguins added to a landscape that will take you to the greater connection with nature.
As you can see, Puerto Madryn is a dream place for those who like wild and aquatic nature, allowing us to assess what we have as human beings and the responsibility for the care of both the fauna and the environment.
